By collaborating across the State of Washington and the mass timber ecosystem, the Washington Mass Timber Accelerator (MassTAc) aims to position the state as a leader in mass timber research, design, manufacturing, and construction.

We are a central hub for resources, information, funding, and strategy, dedicated to ensuring the mass timber ecosystem grows together for maximum impact.

What We Do

We are the central hub for mass timber activity in Washington. Our ecosystem of supporters works to:

Organize the mass timber ecosystem in WA for maximum impact and leverage.

Amplify mass timber activity in WA to bolster WA as a leader in mass timber research, design, manufacturing, construction.

Coordinate and partner with the Oregon Mass Timber Coalition and PNW Mass Timber Tech Hub to align on regional priorities and ensure efforts are complementary.

Fundraise for mass timber projects across the state.

Advocate for mass timber policy at state and local levels to support WA climate goals and sustainable growth of the regional supply chain.

Promotion: Raise awareness about mass timber.

  • Raise awareness of mass timber as a sustainable building material.
  • Develop branding and marketing strategies to promote Washington-manufactured mass timber.

Policy: Integrate mass timber into policy and planning.

  • Advocate for mass timber to become an integral part of Washington’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
  • Support state and local policy initiatives to encourage mass timber adoption.

Projects: Initiate mass timber accelerator projects.

  • Promote the use of mass timber as the default choice for the construction of K-12 Washington schools.
  • Assess how mass timber can respond to housing demand across different typologies, scales and population densities.
