Provides financial support to qualified lenders whose loan applicants want to establish, reopen, expand, or improve a sawmill or other wood processing facility that process ecosystem restoration byproducts from USDA Forest Service National Forest System lands.
Projects are sought that will positively impact the Endowment’s three focus areas—markets, communities, and forests. Financing is provided through impact investing, the concept that strategically invested capital can achieve both a social outcome and a financial return. A second round of impact investing opportunities is anticipated January 2025, with proposals due March 16, 2025.
The purpose of the Department of Agriculture’s Community Wildfire Defense Grant is to assist at-risk local communities with planning and mitigating against the risk created by wildfire. The Act prioritizes at-risk communities in an area identified as having high or very high wildfire hazard potential, are low-income, and/or have been impacted by a severe disaster.
